The Community carer acts as a representative of 3C Malta while providing the wide range of services offered by our company. In this role, employees work independently according to the care plan and in close collaboration with the medical team and supervisors. This requires that candidates can successfully balance a variety of responsibilities while maintaining good judgement, strong initiative, and closely adhere to the company policies.
It should be noted that emphasis is for the community carer to deliver high quality care to service user and their informal carers in accordance with their support plan in a person-centred approach. Service users will be actively involved in the care program so as to reach their full potential in healthy living through:

Work Hours:
This position will require living in the same house as the client with the shifts at various times (including nights, weekends, and sleep-over) in one or more work settings as agreed within the contract of work.
Duties:
The following list of duties is a guideline of possible duties to be performed independently or as a group of duties in the course of working with the client. The following duties are not exhaustive and therefore such duties are not limited to the list below.
- Companionship and in-house Respite Care
- One of the most important aspects of C3Malta will be providing customers with a strong sense of self-esteem and independence.
- Taking a genuine interest in the client, their life and their environment will help create the true sense of companionship. Whether it is playing a favourite board game or card game, reading, taking a walk round the block or visiting friends and neighbours,
- companionship reflects the ethos of C3Malta. Moreover, through in-house respite services, informal carers will be relieved and given some time out from their carer commitment.
- The candidate must respect the cultural, spiritual and religious needs of patients/residents and their relatives. Be able to work in a team and assist the interdisciplinary team.
Domestic Tasks;
- The community carer will provide assistance with domestic activities of daily living such as housekeeping, laundry, feeding, pet care and shopping amongst others.
- Tasks may include dusting, washing flooring, vacuuming carpets and furniture, changing bedding, scrubbing the bathroom; washing, drying, ironing and folding laundry; cleaning refrigerators/freezers; caring for house plants;
- taking out garbage and general tidying of living spaces as required or requested. It also includes caring for pets including feeding, exercising, walking, playing, cleaning up after the pet as well as grocery shopping, preparing menus and meals, cooking, baking, serving, assisting with eating, washing and drying dishes and general tidying up.
Personal Care
- This includes assisting with client’s activities of daily living such as grooming needs, hair care, shaving, cleaning teeth/dentures; supervising or assisting with ‘bathtub’ baths, showers and bed baths; assisting with dressing and undressing;
- assisting with mobilisation activities including turning, transferring, exercising, and walking; assisting with toilet and/or commode needs; assisting with eatingor feeding; It also includes prompting the client to take their prescription medications.
- Transportation and Escort
- A Community carer may drive their car or a client’s, depending on their request,to an appointment or errand. The live-in community carer may also escort the client to appointments or errands providing a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on.
Additional duties:
The community carer is expected to ;
- Maintain excellent and objective ongoing communication with C3Malta office staff
- respond to phone calls and/or emails in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report changes in service user’s health, behaviour and needs.
- Document thoroughly care provided on the Client’s profile record within the company app, including initials and signatures.
- Maintain a professional relationship with the client and family.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality according to the company’s policies at all times.
Qualifications/ requirements:
- Two years verifiable experience in personal care and proof of valid carer
- qualification MQF level 3 or higher in Health and social care.
- Valid driver’s license with a reliable method of transportation.
- Must have a clean criminal background and able to provide a Maltese
- police conduct on engagement, undergo a health screen and have a full vaccine screen.
- Fluent in English language.
- Ability to work independently and at the same time be aware of his/her professional boundaries.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and caring nature.
- Able to work in a stressful environment.
- Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of caregiving which may include lifting around 20Kg, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying items such as laundry and groceries.
- Have access to a computer/Tablet or smartphone daily.
General Notes:
The community carer will be required to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their clients. There may be emergency situations where the community carer will have to react quickly with sound judgement. The scope of duties described in this document may not include all duties to be performed by the live-in community carer and is subject to change.
